Learn about cultures. Engage the community.

The Fellowship for Building Intercultural Communities (FBIC) is a semester-long program for a group of 10-15 freshmen and sophomores led by a group of 6-7 upperclassmen facilitators. Fellows will explore various issues within interculturalism, such as stereotypes, privilege and oppression, race representation in media, and more.

Discuss and learn. Together.

Fellows will be led in bi-weekly discussions, with an emphasis on creating a safe space. Through these sessions, fellows will also gain leadership skills applicable throughout their Penn experience and beyond. In addition to the academic and professional focus of the program, the cohort will be a cohesive social community upon which to foster intercultural relationships. By the end of the semester, the fellows’ experience will culminate in a civically-oriented capstone project that they develop together.
